Provident Living - Emergency Backpack

Emergency Backpacks
One would think that after watching the 2004 hurricane season on TV and almost getting left at the Miami airport the morning of Hurricane Jeanne, I would have known how long Hurricane season was. Nope! In December of 2004, when we moved to South Florida, I had no idea hurricane season was 6 months long. I seriously may have stayed put in California. (Where we returned in April of 2007). It didn't take me long to go out and purchase every emergency preparedness item necessary to survive comfortably. Right down to the battery operated TV and portable room size air conditioner. Both of which were very handy the weeks after Wilma hit.
I did extensive research on buying empty packs and filling them and buying pre-packed packs. When I saw the "Life Gear" pack on several news programs I was very impressed, but the cost was more than I wanted to spend because I was planning on adding to the content. The price from the Life Gear website is $99.00. Amazon.com was selling it for a little less, but not much. Walmart, however, is selling it for $67.74. I bought five. One for each of the kids and for NY and me too! The lovely thing about Walmart is free shipping when you do a site to store purchase. WE keep our backpacks in the garage on the shelf next to the car where we can easily grab them in an emergency.
The Life Gear backpacks are well made and the contents are amazing. The following is a list of all the different items included with the pack.
All Weather Poncho,
Thermal Blanket,
Hygiene Kit,
Signaling Mirror,
First Aid Kit,
Writing Pad and Pen,
Signaling Whistle,
Directional Compass,
Magnifying Glass,
Leather/Cloth Gloves,
Respirator Mask,
Red Emergency Flashing Light,
Multifunction Tool,
Waterproof Document/Cash Bag,
Water Resistant Back Pack Cover w/Pocket,
Emergency Shelter Tarp (58” x 84”) with Cords,
Detachable Wings of Life (Patent Pending),
Accommodates Drinking Water Pouch w/Tube,
and Cell Phone/Walkie Talkie Carrying Case.

There's plenty of room to add items, which I did for all our packs. The nice thing is you can add your own personal items at your leisure as these packs are ready to go as is.

Go with your own personal choice of backpack and contents. I wanted to share my find simply because I truly believe it to be an excellent deal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Provident: 1. having or showing foresight; providing carefully for the future. 2. characterized by or proceeding from foresight: provident care. 3. economical; frugal; thrifty. Emergency Preparedness is not only helpful after a hurricane, fire, tornado or earthquake. An illness, loss of a job, or even instability in the national economy are all good reason to be prepared.
